Good afternoon and Happy New Year!

Please find attached the EVC’s Vehicle Sales Report for December 2025 to assist with reporting on total car sales.

Of note:

  • Polestar sales increased by 38.5% in calendar year 2025 compared with 2024, with total national vehicle sales climbing to 2,373.
  • Tesla sales declined by 24.8% year-on-year, with annual vehicle sales reaching 28,856.  
  • The Tesla Model Y was the most popular vehicle in December 2025 with 1998 sales – a 7.4% increase over the corresponding month in 2024. Across the calendar year, sales of the Tesla Model Y reached 22,239 – up 4.6% annually.

  • This monthly report only includes sales from some brands only - it does not capture the entire new vehicle sales market in Australia.

The EVC's aim is for data to be publicly available for all Australian new vehicle sales to enhance transparency and consumer confidence, and it welcomes the support of more OEMs in achieving this goal.
