Local members of the southern Ahmadiyya Muslim Community will hold Pre-Australia Day celebrations in grandeur as the controversial Australia Day public holiday comes close.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in Adelaide invites you to its annual Pre-Australia Day celebrations on Sunday, 25th January, at the Morphett Vale Noor Mosque.

Despite the controversy surrounding the date of Australia Day, this community plans to hold an event as a gesture to the opportunity and quality of life this beautiful country has given them. Most members of the community face backlash and persecution in their home countries and have sought asylum in Australia. For them this day is important to acknowledge the religious freedom, freedom of speech and dialogue that Australia has provided.

The National President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Australia, Imam. I.H. Kauser said:

“We, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, always pray for the progress and development of our homeland, Australia. As per our traditions we will celebrate Australia Day in all Mosques across Australia. We stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our nation, government and people because our religion teaches us that love of country of residence is part of faith.”

The event will commence at 11am Sunday, the 25th of January with the national anthem. Some children will deliver short speeches on what being Australian means to them. The community will honour recipients of high academic achievement and community service with Australia Day Awards with the event wrapping up with a BBQ lunch.

This day holds special significance for the Community; the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mosques across the country will begin the day offering prayers for the prosperity of Australia. Members of the community will also participate in community celebrations throughout the day.

The Worldwide Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, the Fifth Caliph, His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad guides Community members in this regard:

“True loyalty requires a relationship built on sincerity and integrity… it is essential for a citizen of any country to establish a relationship of genuine loyalty and faithfulness to his nation. It does not matter whether he is a born citizen, or whether he gains citizenship later in life..."

The event is open to the public from all walks of life to join this enriching dialogue on peace, unity, and love for one’s country. Lunch will be served, providing networking opportunities and fostering connections among attendees.

Tasmania’s proposed firearms changes ignore national calls for tighter gun control

The Tasmanian government has ignored community calls for stronger gun laws and bowed to the gun lobby’s demands, offering a premium price for restricted firearms and allowing an unlimited number of firearms for each gun owner. The Rockcliff government announced its position just hours after the first meeting of a committee purportedly established to consult on firearm laws. Australian Gun Safety Alliance convenor and Alannah & Madeline Foundation advocacy advisor Stephen Bendle said: “It is deeply disturbing that the Rockcliff government has chosen to ignore the National Cabinet recommendation of caps on the number of firearms anyone can own. “Tasmania…

Iranian Australians help Intelligence Committee tackle state-sponsored terrorism

The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (PJCIS) will hold a public hearing this Thursday for its review of the listing of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a state sponsor of terrorism under theCriminal Code. The IRGC is a hybrid military-security organisation that operates independently from Iran’s conventional armed forces and reports directly to the Supreme Leader. It has a record of conducting internal security operations and hostile overseas activities. The Australian Government listed the IRGC as a state sponsor of terrorism in November 2025. Chair of the PJCIS, Senator Raff Ciccone, said: “Submitters to this review…

Tasmanian gun reforms hang in the balance as committee meets for first time

Strengthening gun laws to keep Tasmanians safe will be on the agenda at the first meeting of the Firearms Consultative Committee today, with Tasmania still to commit to national gun reforms in the wake of the Bondi Beach tragedy. The Alannah & Madeline Foundation is calling on the Rockliff government to ensure Tasmania takes reasonable steps that seek to prevent future gun deaths – instead of following Queensland by ignoring National Cabinet and the national sentiment. Australian Gun Safety Alliance convenor and Alannah & Madeline Foundation advocacy advisor Stephen Bendle, who has been appointed to the consultative committee, said: “This…
