MEDIA ALERT: Myuna workers rally to save jobs

Mining and Energy Union < 1 min read

Mineworkers at Myuna Colliery will rally outside Eraring Power Station today, calling on Origin Energy to secure a sustainable coal supply deal with their employer Centennial coal, to avoid the closure of their mine and 300 local coal mining jobs.

The Mining and Energy Union (MEU), Australian Manufacturing Workers Union (AMWU), Electrical Trades Union (ETU) and Collieries’ Staff and Officials Association (CSOA), say Eraring Power Station should purchase coal from the captured mine through to its new closure date in 2029.

Workers said they would continue campaigning to ensure the mine continues operating for the life of the power station.
