Soft Landing Mattress Recycling Achieves ISO Certification – Strengthening Commitment to Safety, Environment and Quality

Soft Landing Mattress Recycling 2 mins read

Soft Landing, Australia’s largest mattress recycler, has achieved ISO certification across the key operational standards of Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management and Quality Management.

These internationally recognised certifications show that the national certified not-for-profit social enterprise and registered charity meets global benchmarks for keeping people safe, protecting the environment and delivering high-quality services for councils, retailers and communities across Australia.

The certifications were awarded following an independent audit by SAI Global and recognise Soft Landing’s adherence to international standards in:

  • Occupational Health and Safety (ISO 45001:2018)
  • Environmental Management (ISO 14001:2016)
  • Quality Management (ISO 9001:2015)

“This certification reflects the care and dedication our teams put into recycling mattresses every day,” said David Petrie, Soft Landing General Manager. “It shows that we have strong systems in place to support our people and the important work they do.”

“For our council and retail partners, it provides assurance that our services are delivered to the highest professional standards – consistently, safely, and with a strong focus on compliance and continual improvement.”

Mr Petrie said: “Our commitment to quality service, safety and social and environmental outcomes makes us the mattress recycler of choice for councils and retailers across Australia. This ISO certification is further proof we have the operational expertise and capacity to meet council and retailer requirements.”

“We’re proud of this achievement and we’re looking forward to working with more councils and retailers in the year ahead to deliver an outstanding service to residents and consumers,” he said.

ABOUT SOFT LANDING

Soft Landing is Australia’s largest mattress recycler. We’re a certified not-for-profit social enterprise and registered charity operating across five sites in NSW, VIC, WA and the ACT to collect and recycle end-of-life mattresses, bed bases, lounges and whitegoods. In the last five years, we’ve recycled over 2.3 million mattresses and diverted over 40,000 tonnes of waste from landfill – and counting.

We manually dismantle each mattress to maximise higher-value resource recovery, reduce environmental harm and create meaningful jobs for people experiencing barriers to employment. For every 23 mattresses we collect and recycle each day, we create a job for someone who really needs one. www.softlanding.com.au
